Musical performances, political meetings, and other activities will not be allowed to take place at the Galle Face Green in Sri Lanka, except for religious activities. The Sri Lanka Ports Authority will carry out a corporate social responsibility program and has already spent Rs. 220 million on development programs, with Rs. 6.6 million spent on repairing damages caused during the ‘Aragalaya’ period. The Cabinet made this decision because the Galle Face Green areas were meant for the public to spend their leisure hours peacefully and not for rallies and large gatherings.
This will effect from 20th April.
