Heavy rain is causing widespread flooding in parts of Auckland and Northland, with emergency warnings issued and people being urged to prepare for evacuations. Auckland Transport has warned people to stay clear of floodwaters, and several schools in the region have been evacuated. An emergency alert has been sent out urging people to call 111 if life or property is at risk. Meanwhile, a group of teenagers, their teacher and an instructor are trapped in a cave near Whangฤrei due to heavy rain. Heavy rain warnings are also in place for other parts of the North Island and the South Island.
