The website’s 2023 rankings placed Air New Zealand in the top spot, followed by Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways, Korean Air, Singapore Airlines, and Qantas. The rating agency highlighted Air New Zealand’s innovative Skynest lie-flat economy beds as a key factor in its win this year. The website’s editor-in-chief praised Air New Zealand’s commitment to excellence, from its governance and executive team to its workforce. The airline’s focus on innovation, particularly in the economy cabin, was also highlighted. The AirlineRatings.com Airline Excellence Awards consider safety, innovation, passenger reviews, and profitability.
