High-ranking officials from the Police Crime Division have provided two pieces of advice regarding email accounts for children and mobile phones. They advise against entering parents’ data when setting up email accounts for school children and instead entering the correct age of the children. By doing so, the internet system itself can control and restrict children’s access to inappropriate websites and videos. The officials also emphasized the importance of using mobile phones approved by the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) to quickly address any criminal activities involving the phones. This information was shared during a meeting of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Reconciliation and National Unity, where discussions were held on collaborative programs with the National Reconciliation and Children and Women Bureau. The police’s initiatives related to national reconciliation and children and women affairs were also widely discussed during the meeting.
