Neel Para, a Sri Lankan living in Australia, has started a walk demanding permanent residence for all the refugees.

He started the march from Ballarat in Victoria to the Prime Minister’s Election Office in Sydney.

It is reported that the distance of this walk is close to 1,000 km

It is pointed out that he and his family members, who fled the country during the war in Sri Lanka, are among the 12,500 people who cannot apply for the new permanent residence system introduced by the federal government. His hope is to ask the federal government to do justice to the people including himself

It is further stated that he is ready to hand over a petition to the Prime Minister after reaching his destination in Sydney on September 9.
