After a chilly night across New Zealand, more snow is forecasted for parts of the South Island. Meteorologists from MetService have indicated that the cold temperatures were due to a mass of cold air moving in from the Southern Ocean. This cold weather pattern is expected to continue throughout the week, with additional snowfall expected due to a front bringing colder air and moisture. Heavy snow watches have been issued for various regions in the South Island, and road snowfall warnings are also in effect for parts of both the North and South Islands.
