New Zealand’s food inflation rate has shown a decrease in July, with monthly food prices falling by 0.5% compared to June. After adjusting for seasonal effects, prices dropped by 1.1%, primarily driven by a decrease in fruit and vegetable prices. However, despite the decrease, food prices were still 9.6% higher in July compared to the same month last year. This increase is attributed to rising prices across all major food categories measured by Stats NZ, with the largest contributor being grocery food prices, which rose by 11.9%.
