General Election
The New Zealand General Election is scheduled for October 14, 2023, and it’s your opportunity to have a say in who represents you in Parliament. Voting begins on Monday, October 2, and you can cast your vote at any voting place across the country. On Election Day, Saturday, October 14, all voting locations will be open from 9 am to 7 pm.
To participate in this important event, you must be enrolled to vote. Eligibility criteria include being 18 years or older, a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, and having resided in New Zealand for at least 12 months continuously at some point in your life. If you meet these requirements and enroll by Sunday, September 10, you’ll receive election information by mail, including an EasyVote card designed to simplify the voting process.

Voting from Overseas
Voting for individuals who are overseas during the General Election will begin on Wednesday, September 27. The rules for voting from overseas have changed for this election. You are eligible to vote from overseas for the 2023 General Election if you are enrolled and meet the following criteria:
You are a New Zealand citizen and have been in New Zealand in the last 6 years, or
You are a New Zealand permanent resident and have been in New Zealand in the last 4 years.
