The data for the year ending September reveals a population growth of 138,000, with a natural increase (births minus deaths) accounting for 19,300 people and net migration (arrivals minus departures) contributing 118,800 people. The Mฤori population saw a 1.5 percent growth, adding 13,100 individuals, bringing the estimated Mฤori population to 904,100, constituting 17.3 percent of the national population. The median age of Mฤori individuals is notably lower than the national median ages, reflecting the demographic landscape of New Zealand.
