Boxing Day spending in New Zealand showed a slight decline in overall retail transactions compared to the previous year, according to data released by Worldline New Zealand. While core retail spending, excluding hospitality, was down 0.6%, hospitality-related spending, particularly at food and liquor stores, increased by 14.1% compared to the previous Boxing Day. The figures indicate a broader trend observed over the past six months. Despite a drop in overall retail spending, specific sectors, such as hospitality, experienced growth.
