New Zealand Police have announced changes to their recruitment eligibility criteria, allowing people with a restricted driver’s licence to apply to become police officers. Applicants must obtain a full licence before training. The changes also revert to 2017 criteria, allowing those with a residency visa to apply. Assistant Commissioner Jill Rogers said the changes aim to remove barriers and increase the potential pool of recruits by thousands. The announcement comes as hundreds of New Zealand officers have applied to work in Queensland, Australia.
