The Professionals Trade Union Collective has decided to call off its ongoing islandwide strike action tomorrow (16).

The Collective announced that the strike action, which was launched at 08.00 am today, will be called off at 8.00 am on Thursday.

The Professionals Trade Union Collective further stated that the decision has been taken as President Ranil Wickremesinghe has assured that their demands will be taken into consideration.

Trade unions of several essential services sectors, including power, water, railways, health, schools, and banks, launched an islandwide strike action over several demands, including the governmentโ€™s new tax policy.

According to reports, the public has been severely inconvenienced due to the ongoing trade union strike action. (NewsWire)
