Waka Kotahi, the New Zealand Transport Agency, has announced the upcoming installation of nine new road safety cameras in Auckland. These cameras are part of the Road to Zero safety strategy and aim to improve safety on high-risk roads in the region. Steve Mutton, the director of Waka Kotahi, emphasized the importance of speed in determining the outcome of a crash and stated that even a small change in speed can make a significant difference. The cameras will be installed over the next few weeks, with additional cameras expected later in the year. Auckland Transport has expressed its support for this initiative, stating that it will contribute to keeping everyone safe on the roads. All the locations chosen for the new cameras have an 80km/h posted speed limit.
