The Stroke Foundation has introduced a new online support platform to assist children (tamariki) whose family members have suffered from a stroke. Developed in collaboration with youth ambassador Edna Swart, the platform offers videos, Q&A sessions, and online resources to address young people’s concerns about life after a stroke. This initiative aims to provide guidance and reassurance to young individuals facing uncertainties and stress after a stroke affects their family. The platform can be accessed at familyandstroke.org.nz. Additionally, children can seek support from Barnardos’ 0800 What’s Up service website, where trained counselors help build resilience in children aged five to nineteen.
