New Zealand has experienced its largest annual net migration gain in more than three years, with a net increase of 86,800 people in the year ending June. This gain was primarily driven by a record net increase of 121,600 non-New Zealand citizens, while there was a net migration loss of 34,800 New Zealand citizens.
The recent gains were influenced by citizens from countries including India, the Philippines, China, South Africa, and Fiji. The country also saw a rise in overseas visitor arrivals, reaching 2.54 million in the year ended June, with Australia being the leading source followed by the United States and United Kingdom.
