YouTube is introducing an AI-powered dubbing tool called Aloud to break language barriers and make content accessible to a global audience.
The tool was created by Buddhika Kottahachchi and Sasakthi Abeysinghe, who are both originally from Sri Lanka and have known each other since their high school days. The idea for Aloud emerged during the COVID lockdowns when they wanted to solve interesting problems. Buddhika was inspired by his childhood experience of watching dubbed TV shows, and they saw the potential for Aloud to bridge language gaps in a world where knowledge is increasingly conveyed through video content.
