Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has officially lifted the ban imposed on cricketer Mr. Danishka Gunathilaka, who had been suspended from all cricket activities by the Executive Committee of SLC in November 2022 due to criminal allegations made against him in Australia. These allegations led to his arrest and charges related to alleged sexual assault. However, following his recent acquittal from all charges in the District Court of New South Wales and his return to Sri Lanka in October 2023, an Independent Inquiry Committee recommended the full lifting of his ban. The decision was ratified by the SLC Executive Committee, enabling Mr. Gunathilaka to resume his cricketing career and potentially represent the national team once again, with a reminder to uphold his responsibilities as a representative of the nation.
