Residents in New Zealand’s Southland and Otago regions awoke to an unusual sight – snowfall. These areas experienced freezing temperatures overnight, leading to snow on the ground. However, despite the chilly surprise, MetService has canceled wind, rain, and snow warnings. Road snowfall warnings remain in place for mountain roads. Meanwhile, the upper North Island received heavy rain and wind warnings for the coming days. Motorists, particularly in North Otago, were urged to be cautious due to strong winds. While the cold weather may linger, temperatures are expected to rise in the coming days.
