Cyber security experts are warning people in New Zealand to be careful of new phishing scams that are circulating over the Easter weekend. Scammers are sending fake text messages that look like they are from local banks, NZ Post and Waka Kotahi NZTA, which urge people to pay overdue toll fees. The messages contain links that look legitimate but are not. Information security experts say that public holidays are a particularly dangerous time for phishing, as people are busy with other activities and may not be as careful as they should be. The advice is to double-check with service providers if you receive an unexpected message.
