The Sri Lankan government is considering changing the name of the Colombo Lotus Tower to “Colombo Tower” by removing the word “Lotus” from the name. This is due to concerns that the name does not suit the tower and some believe that changing the name could help rid it of the negative reputation it has gained. The tower has been referred to as the “Rajapaksa Tower” and criticised for being a costly project of the former government.
