North and East of Sri Lanka observes hartal against proposed Anti-Terrorism Act and state-sponsored land grab

There is a protest happening in the North and East against the government’s proposed Anti-Terrorism Act. The protest, called a hartal, is organized by several political parties and civil organizations. The protest is also against the state-sponsored land grab happening in the area. All businesses and schools have closed down in support of the protest, and public transportation has been suspended in several parts of the North and East.
