Auckland Zoo’s last remaining elephant, Burma, may have a new forever home in South Australia’s Monarto Safari Park. Last year, plans to move Burma to Australia Zoo were canceled. Now, Zoos South Australia is fundraising to build an elephant habitat at Monarto Safari Park. If successful, three Asian elephants, including Burma, will have a spacious home. Auckland Zoo is excited about the possibility, knowing Burma needs to be with other elephants for her well-being. The decision will be made by the end of October, and if successful, Burma could move to her new home in late 2024.
