The latest Seek employment report shows that the New Zealand labor market saw a decline in job vacancies, with weakening demand in Auckland and Wellington. The number of job ads fell by 2% in September, following several months of declines. This has shifted the balance of power toward employers, with application levels remaining high. While Auckland and Wellington recorded a decline in job ads, some regional areas experienced an increase in job listings. Otago saw a 7% increase, and there were small lifts in Manawatu, Taranaki, Southland, and the West Coast. However, certain industries, including trades, services, manufacturing, transport, and logistics, saw declines in job vacancies.
