Petrol prices in New Zealand might experience an unexpected drop over the summer, contrary to earlier predictions of a potential rise to $3.50. This positive turn is attributed to a significant decline in international oil prices. The Automobile Association (AA) notes that the price of crude oil has decreased by over 20%, strengthening New Zealand’s dollar, reducing refining and shipping costs. AA spokesperson Terry Collins suggests that these factors could lead to a further decrease in fuel prices during the holiday period. As of now, the average prices stand at $2.76 for unleaded 91, $2.96 for unleaded 95, $3.08 for unleaded 98, and $2.19 for diesel.
