Aucklanders are advised against swimming at several popular beaches due to sewage overflow and water contamination. Safeswim, a water quality monitoring website, has raised concerns at various locations. Inner harbor beaches like Sentinel Road Beach, Judges Bay, Herne Bay, and Home Bay are marked with black flags, indicating swimming is off-limits. East Auckland spots, including Mission Bay, St Heliers, and Okahu Bay, have red flags, advising against swimming. Similar warnings are in place for North Shore beaches, such as Narrow Neck, Milford Beach, Long Bay, and Mairangi Bay. The public can check beach safety statuses on the Safeswim website.
