The New Zealand Order of Merit has revealed its prestigious honours list for the New Year, spotlighting individuals for their exceptional contributions across diverse categories. The King, in celebration of the New Year, has bestowed notable appointments to The New Zealand Order of Merit, acknowledging remarkable achievements and service to the nation.

In this year’s honours list, three individuals from the Sri Lankan community in New Zealand stand out for their outstanding contributions. Sadun Kitulagoda of Wellington was awarded an Honorary Queen’s Service Medal. for his unwavering dedication and service to the Sri Lankan community. Atula Wanasinghe, Justice of the Peace in Wellington, received the QSM for his contributions to the Sri Lankan community and cricket. Dr. Ann Dolores Perera of Auckland was honored with the MNZM Award for her remarkable services in the field of food science and nutrition.
