Chamari Athapattu, the captain of the Sri Lanka women’s cricket team, is currently playing in a T20 women’s cricket series in New Zealand. In recognition of her talent and achievements, the Sri Lanka Friendship Society in Waikato organized a tribute ceremony for Chamari in New Zealand.
During the ceremony, Chamari spoke about the importance of dedication and hard work in achieving success. She emphasized the need to set goals and put in the effort to reach them. Chamari expressed her gratitude to the Sinhalese community in Hamilton, New Zealand, for the award, as it was a unique recognition in her cricket career.
Players from various women’s cricket teams in New Zealand and members of the Hamilton Lions cricket team also attended the event to show their support. Chamari’s message to young people was to work with dedication and determination, believing that anything can be achieved with the right mindset.
