Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has revealed his government’s new priority list for the next three months, aiming to continue the momentum of their previous achievements and address key issues facing New Zealand.

The comprehensive action plan, consisting of 36 tasks to be completed by 30 June, covers a wide range of areas including the economy, law and order, and public services.

Key highlights of the action plan include:

  1. Delivering a budget focused on reducing wasteful spending while investing in frontline services like health, education, and police.
  2. Introducing legislation for personal income tax relief and the FamilyBoost childcare tax credit.
  3. Establishing a Regional Infrastructure Fund to support vital projects across the country.
  4. Launching a new school Attendance Action Plan to address truancy issues.
  5. Taking actions to improve rehabilitation and safety outcomes in the corrections system.
  6. Setting targets for improving public service outcomes and strengthening teacher training.
  7. Introducing measures to tighten controls on youth vaping and reform the Holidays Act.

Prime Minister Luxon emphasized that each task in the action plan is aligned with the government’s overarching goal of getting the country “back on track.” He also stressed the importance of transparency and accountability in delivering results for New Zealanders.

While some tasks may require further consultation and legislative processes, Luxon assured that the government would use the appropriate methods to ensure effective implementation.

The unveiling of the new priority list comes after the successful completion of the Coalition’s 100-day plan, reflecting the government’s commitment to ongoing progress and delivery.
