A group of veterinarians is calling for clear labeling on eggs to show whether they are produced by colony hens living in cages. Since a ban on battery cages came into force in New Zealand, some egg producers have been “blurring messages” for consumers, says Veterinarians for Animal Welfare Aotearoa.
