The upcoming King’s Birthday weekend in New Zealand is expected to be wet for much of the country. Saturday is predicted to be the best day, while Sunday onwards will likely see rain and the need for raincoats and umbrellas. A front moving up the country will bring snow to the south and rain to both the North and South Islands. Showery weather and strong winds are expected in the North Island on Friday. Another front will arrive on Sunday, bringing more wet weather to both islands. South Canterbury and inland Otago may also experience snowfall, even at lower levels. The forecast aligns with a wetter than usual outlook for many regions, following a month of broken rainfall records in May.
