If you’re aged between 18 and 64 and have contributed at least $1042.86 to your KiwiSaver fund since July 1, 2022, you have until June 30, 2023, to ensure you’re eligible for the full Government contribution of $521.43. The Government contributes $0.50 for every $1 you save, up to the maximum amount. Financial experts emphasize the long-term benefits of maximizing the Government contribution and highlight the power of compounding returns. Even if you can’t contribute the full amount, any amount you can afford will still be worthwhile. You can check your contribution history on the IRD website to determine how much more you need to contribute to meet the eligibility requirement.
