Tharushi Karunaratne, a talented student-athlete who recently won a gold medal in the women’s 800m event at the Asian Games, had the honor of meeting with President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Presidential Palace in Kandy. The President introduced Tharushi to newly accredited ambassadors, emphasizing her remarkable achievement. A group of 76 dedicated students from the Sports School of Walala A. Rathnayake Central College, where Tharushi is studying, joined the event, along with the school’s principal, athletic coach, and teachers. President Wickremesinghe congratulated Tharushi and discussed improving athletic facilities and allocating funds for renovations. He encouraged the students to balance their academic and athletic pursuits, wishing them success. A group photo marked this memorable occasion.
